Partial Solar Eclipse at Bali 2023
Two years ago, I had planned this trip to witness a total solar eclipse, filled with excitement and anticipation. My plan was to fly to Australia and embark on a 15-day self-guided tour to capture the eclipse and the beautiful starry sky. I intended to organize a group of 18 people, with three cars of six people each, to embark on this beautiful journey together.

However, reality is always full of variables. I couldn't let go of my café's affairs, and my children at home needed my care, so I had to withdraw from my original plan. The arrival of the pandemic also made many people lose confidence and courage in such trips. In the end, only four people completed this plan, and I missed this precious opportunity.

But I did not give up. In the last two months, I chose to travel to Bali to capture a partial solar eclipse. Although I had initially invited many relatives and friends, I ended up embarking on this journey alone. Although my wife and friends did not understand why I insisted on this plan, I persisted in my beliefs, feeling that it was a kind of sentiment.

I did some research and, considering different coordinates, ultimately chose this large statue, Patung Satria Gatotkaca, which was located at an airport. Although I initially discovered that I could only capture the back of the statue, I found that this statue had its unique features from any angle. I visited here to scout the location one day before the eclipse, and although I found that the weather was not ideal, I still had confidence and determination.

In the end, on the morning of the eclipse, the sky was cloudy, and it rained for a while, but I did not feel disappointed. I waited with a calm mind and organized my shooting equipment. However, an hour before the eclipse, the sky suddenly cleared up. Despite the occasional presence of clouds, I still successfully captured the beautiful moments of the entire partial solar eclipse process. I feel that this is a valuable work to remember, which also made me more determined to pursue my beliefs and dreams.

I used a Canon R5 camera and a Canon 85mm F1.2 lens to combine the landscape and the partial solar eclipse into one photo. To obtain higher image quality and resolution, I took 80 photos, including the landscape, and stitched them together. The resulting composite image has a resolution of 380 million pixels.
